How Much Does the SAT Count in the Admissions Decision?

SAT counts for more than colleges will admit to and less than students think.
The Academic Index the AI Calculator should shed light on ‘how much’ the SAT counts. Although AI was developed for athletes, they calculate it for many students.

The part that is first based in your SAT scores, the next part is predicated on your SAT II scores, plus the third component is founded on your GPA. The link above talks about a GPA dining table provided to the eight universities, but it doesn’t explain the way the GPA is determined. It generally seems to use a weighted scale where the most notable score is 4.3. I haven’t found out just how this quantity is calculated. The spreadsheet then proceeds to choose the higher rating associated with each of the two GPA figures. It’s constantly struck me that the SAT scores make up two-thirds of the index. Colleges might include a fudge element if they know one thing about a school that is high but no option for that shows up into the example spreadsheet.
Quadruplets’ Mom Needs SAT Advice

We could really use some advise on how to approach SAT test prep for my quadruplets. [me: OMG]
I have 3 girls and 1 boy. They took the PSAT in sophomore and they will take the PSAT again this October year.
Certainly one of the drawbacks of having all my children the exact same age is that any mistakes I make affects all four. None of them benefit from me learning from my errors so i really hope to have this as right when I can.
Do you might think I should have them study as a small team together under my guidance (from experience it is like trying to herd cats); get a tutor for the four of them in a small group; have someone tutor them separately; or send them up to a SAT test prep center? Or perhaps a combination of all of these? I need to view my costs too.
How do you find a good tutor? What’s the most useful test prep business?

Dear Multiple Mom,
My gut says to together do some work along with four (e.g. lots of vocab, full practice tests, and they can explain answers to one another because that is clearly a smart way to learn), and do some preparation separately. When you can find a tutor( that is affordable), that’s the most efficient means.
Here are a few pre-determined questions to ask a potential tutor (or test prep company):
1) would you personalize your approach and, if so, how?
2) What’s your score that is average gain student? Numerous tutors will not answer this concern because there are incredibly numerous variables that it’s very nearly maybe not fair to ask. That said, an excessive ‘average score gain’ should be a flag. e.g., 200 points in a month.
3) How long do you advise students to plan the SAT and how much can it cost? The right solution will be specific and will be based on where the pupil begins and what the target is.
4) What test prep materials would you use? ( If it’s not College that is official Board, be wary.)
5) simply how much research will there be between sessions? (a tutor that is great have students do as much work as possible off the clock, such as vocab and practice tests.)
The step that is first to own all four kids take the official College Board practice SAT. You should use one from the College Board’s Blue Book, or a practice is had by the College Board test on its website.
You need to determine exactly what they should work on and whether they need foundational work or more test prep polish that is traditional. My guess is which they need foundational work, as most kids do (and as we did!). Ensure you select a test or tutor prep business who are able to assess that well!
Regarding test prep companies, we’d steer clear of anyone whom doesn’t primarily use College Board product (that would include most/if not all large, brand-name test prep companies).
